Hi there – my name is Sergey Berezin, and I am a free-lance independent filmmaker, editor and VFX artist. I am most passionate about fiction movies, especially those that are fun and have a deep enough story with multiple layers.
Making movies is still a relatively new thing for me, and in the last year or so I’ve been learning the ropes in various capacities in the short films. While my ultimate goal is to direct my own movies, I love working the camera, editing, doing visual special effects (VFX), sound design, and to some extent producing. I’ve also done some screenwriting, sound mixing and booming on set, DVD mastering, and even a bit of music composition.
What I love about making films is that it really requires skills in virtually every art imaginable, from drawing and visual presentation to nitty-gritty of editing, from soft people skills and leadership to very diligent execution of tasks. It’s a whole world compressed into a movie set. And every movie is like being born, living your life, and letting go once it’s over. It’s Life.
Hire Me
I’m available for hire on a project by project basis. My best skills are in VFX design and editing (Apple Final Cut Pro, Motion). Additionally, I’ve learned variety of other skills like:
- Preproduction: Shot design, planning & scheduling
- Production: directing, DP / camera, sound on set (boom and/or mix, recording)
- Postproduction: editing, VFX, sound design, titles, DVD mastering

Been there, done that
I have been shooting home movies on 8mm and Super8 film since as early as I could physically hold the camera – starting around elementary school – and I’ve been playing with video, photo and audio ever since.
Since 2006, I’ve been recording and producing podcasts with the Radical Change Group, International – a small not-for-profit group that I co-founded with two friends of mine. We have been publishing weekly podcasts since September 2007 – approaching our three year mark, and have published over 140 episodes (at the time of writing), and counting.
In the last couple of years I’ve participated in a number of short films, from class projects to film races to professional projects. Here’s the list:
